Keeper System

Keepers allow you to retain one player from your roster from year to year at a draft cost based on where that player was previously selected.

How Keepers Work

Before each draft, every manager declares one player to keep. That player is removed from the draft pool, and the manager gives up a draft pick to retain them — the cost is determined by the keeper rules set for that season.

Keeper Cost

The standard rule: you lose the pick two rounds above where the player was drafted last season.

Example: If you drafted a player in Round 6 last year, keeping them this year costs you your Round 4 pick.

Special Cases

Situation Cost
Player was a free agent (undrafted) Configurable — typically Round 5
Player was drafted in Round 1 or 2 Ineligible — cannot be kept
Player was already kept last year Moves up another round from last year's cost

The commissioner may adjust these rules each season. The exact rules for the current season are shown on the Keepers page.

Viewing Keepers

Current Declarations

Go to KeepersCurrent Declarations to see what every manager has declared for the upcoming draft. For each keeper you'll see:

  • The player's name, position, and NFL team
  • The draft round it will cost
  • Whether they're marked Ineligible

Keeper History

The main Keepers page shows a season-by-season history of all keeper declarations across the league. This is useful for spotting trends — which managers keep well, which players get kept repeatedly.

Ineligible Players

A player is ineligible to be kept if:

  • They were drafted in Round 1 or 2 (the cost would exceed Round 1, which isn't possible)
  • The commissioner has manually marked them ineligible for another reason

If your intended keeper is ineligible, you'll need to enter the draft without a keeper or choose a different player. Contact the commissioner if you believe there's an error.

When Keepers Are Set

Keeper declarations are synced from Sleeper automatically. Make sure your keeper is designated in the Sleeper app before the deadline the commissioner announces.
